Keke Palmer is set to be the third co-host on ABC’s Good Morning America’s spinoff, “Strahan and Sara,” says a source close to the show.

The source also said that ABC executives are close in finalizing the deal with Palmer who has terrific energy and enthusiasm while being off-the-cuff, Page Six reported.

This deal is a strategic push for the network to gain a newer audience. The hour-long daytime show replaced the show “The Chew” – the food and edible spinoff of “The View.” And even though the show has not been out for an entire year, the show has had continual difficulties with ratings since its premiere.

However, Deadline reported that the singer and actress has “demonstrated chemistry in multiple appearances with the two current hosts of Strahan and Sara. Bringing the 25-year-old aboard could widen the appeal of the show and potentially catch the interest of younger viewers.”

Palmer has been on the show with Michael Strahan as the replacement co-host since Sara Haines was on maternity leave. And since then, Palmer has added critical conversation and perspective to the team that ABC believes the network needs.

It is unknown if the show will be rebranded again to include Palmer’s name.

With this deal hopefully under her belt as a host, the singer recently released her newest single “Twerk N Flirt” this past Friday at midnight.
